The Bacolod Transport and Traffic Management Department (BTTMD) logged 8,498 traffic violations in the first six months of this year.
Data show that obstruction topped the list of most frequent traffic violations in Bacolod, with 2,040 recorded from January to June.
Violations falling under the EPZ classification, including truck ban and colorum infraction, were the second-highest, with 1,305 cumulative citations.
There were 1,113 total violations for disregarding traffic lights and signs, remaining steady between 119 and 168 cases from January to April before surging to 190 in May, and peaking at 315 in June.
Reckless driving violations maintained a steady upward trend, growing from 149 in January to a period-high of 238 in June, for a total of 1,097 citations.
Motorcycle helmet violations totaled 610, dropping from 131 in January to 69 in February, before averaging roughly 87 monthly cases from March through May, and concluding June with 149 offenses.
The BTTMD said it will continue strict enforcement and regular roadside checkpoints to maintain order on city streets. | TMD
