Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya shut down recurring rumors of a political fallout between him and Lone District Rep. Alfredo Benitez, attributing the chatter to political rivals stirring conflict ahead of the 2028 elections.
Gasataya clarified Sept. 14 that their working relationship remains transparent and anchored on constant communication, despite their demanding public schedules keeping them from meeting daily.
“What’s most important in life is that you are secure where you stand. There are definitely no talks for 2028 because work is our focus, that’s why all our effort, all our time, and all our energy are dedicated to our job. Those who have nothing to do are the ones focused on 2028,” he said.
He noted that those spreading the false narrative are simply fond of politicking, creating fabricated stories, and stirring conflict because they have nothing better to do.
The mayor emphasized that delivering on their official duties remains their top priority.
“Again, what deputy speaker Albee mentioned last time is reflective of the situation, reflective of the partnership we established a couple of years ago. As long as the lines are open, as long as the intentions and objectives remain in place, supporters have absolutely nothing to worry about. The only ones who will have a problem are those who are interested in running,” Gasataya stressed. | TMD
