The sixth straight week of increases for gasoline, and the seventh for diesel and kerosene, will take effect on Chinese New Year, Feb. 17.

Oil companies announced over the weekend that the per-liter price of gasoline will increase by P1 to P1.30, diesel by P0.40 to P0.70, and kerosene by P0.40 to P0.70/L.

The exact price adjustments will be known today, Feb. 16.

The consecutive price hikes are still due to varied reasons, like the lingering geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, as well as shifting weather conditions, reports said.

Effective Feb. 10, gasoline and kerosene also increased by P0.60/L, and diesel by P1/L.

Meanwhile, the Department of Energy-Visayas Field Office said it will hold an online briefing on the rules and regulations governing businesses in liquid fuels and LPG industries on Feb. 26, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The briefing is open to all existing industry participants, and those recently issued a certificate of compliance as liquid fuels retail outlet (LFRO) dealers, or a license to operate as registered LPG participants, the DOE said in an advisory.
