Former Mayor Francisco Nazareno wants his property, being occupied by a state university satellite campus in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, to be returned to him.

The 10-year deed of usufruct between Nazareno and the management of Central Philippines State University (CPSU) already ended in 2017.

Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo on Wednesday, July 16, sought the help of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Yulo was joined by her husband, Vice Mayor Felix Mathias Yulo, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

The usufruct covered a two-hectare lot located in Barangay 7, where the CPSU satellite campus offers education, information technology, and agri-business courses.

Yulo said more than 1,000 students in Moises Padilla and its neighboring local government units are enrolled in the campus.

Yulo said the property owner had repeatedly been asking for payment from the CPSU, which prompted campus administrator Dr. Rosemarie Gequillana to seek help from the municipal government.

During a dialogue, Yulo said Lacson has committed to help as she raised the possibility that the lot may be purchased.

Yulo said the former mayor wants to sell the property occupied by the CPSU campus. | GB
