The Land Bank of the Philippines has reinforced its commitment to agriculture and financial inclusion with the launch of its first Cash-Lite Campus initiative in the Visayas at Metro Dumaguete College (MDC).

The initiative integrates digital payment solutions for students, faculty, and campus partners, promoting faster, safer, and more convenient transactions, the bank said in a press release.

“Through this cash-lite initiative, we are doing more than introducing a payment system,” MDC president Delma Manila said. “We are easing burdens for families, simplifying transactions, and allowing students to focus on learning and building their future.”

The Land Bank of the Philippines launches its first Cash-Lite Campus initiative in the Visayas at Metro Dumaguete College, and the initiative, expected to benefit over 2,500 students and staff, integrates digital payment solutions.

MDC students and personnel can now open LandBank Piso Plus accounts via the mobile app and pay tuition and fees online through Link.BizPortal. Over 2,500 students and staff are expected to benefit from the program.

Student Cyrus Navarro shared his excitement: “I’m really looking forward to paying my tuition and other expenses using this method. It’s easier and more convenient. Maraming salamat LandBank sa opportunity na binigay mo sa MDC.”

The initiative builds on the bank’s strong digital adoption, with 800 million digital transactions in 2025, up 27 percent year-on-year, and total transaction value reaching P4.41 trillion.

More Cash Lite Campus launches are scheduled nationwide this year, said the largest development financial institution in the country promoting financial inclusion, digital transformation, and sustainable national development.

Present in all 82 provinces in the county, LandBank is committed to provide accessible and responsive financial solutions to empower Filipinos from countryside to countrywide, it added.

The Cash Lite Campus launching was alongside the provincial rollout of the Agrisenso Plus Lending Program of the bank in Bais City, Negros Oriental, Feb. 12.

“We begin 2026 here in Negros Oriental with a clear purpose: to champion the farmers and fishers who feed our nation,” LandBank president and CEO Lynette Ortiz said at the rollout. “Agrisenso Plus provides smart capital to help them adapt, ascend the value chain, and transform the province’s rich harvests into enduring prosperity. At the same time, the Cash-Lite Campus initiative advances our mission of financial inclusivity nationwide, empowering communities to manage their finances safely and conveniently while preparing the youth for a digitally-driven future.”

The activities were led by Ortiz, Negros Oriental 2nd District Rep. Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria, 3rd District Rep. Janice Mira Degamo, Bais City Mayor Luigi Marcel Goñi, and Mabinay Mayor Ernie Uy at the Bais City Multi-Purpose Facility, which gathered more than 2,000 farmers and fishers from across the province.

Agrisenso Plus offers small farmers, fishers, agrarian reform beneficiaries, agri graduates, Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs), and coops/enterprises under Sagip Saka access to affordable financing at a fixed interest rate of three percent per annum, with simplified documentation and free insurance coverage.

It is complemented by the Ascend Program, which provides capacity building and financial education to maximize productivity and income.

Local leaders lauded the bank’s initiative, with Sagarbarria and Goñi highlighting its potential to drive sustainable growth and modernization. Degamo, meanwhile, commended the streamlined loan process that improves accessibility for farmers and fisherfolk.

LandBank already released P3.03 billion in loans benefiting over 14,500 agri borrowers nationwide, as of Dec. 2025, with 10,500 farmers and fishers targeted to be reached in 2026 as the program expands to more regions. ||
