The Department of Trade and Industry in Negros Oriental, led by provincial director Nimfa Virtucio, launched the Shared Service Facility (SSF) for virgin coconut oil (VCO) processing for the Barangay Liptong Small Farmers’ Association Inc. (BLISCOFA) in Valencia town recently.

The initiative aims to boost the competitiveness of this MSME by providing essential machinery, equipment, and skills to enhance production capacity and product quality, so as to expand market reach, sales, and job creation, the DTI said.

BLISCOFA Inc., a licensed manufacturer of VCO by the Food and Drug Administration, faces bottling challenges due to manual processes that limit their production capacity.

The SSF program addresses these issues by providing an automatic liquid filling machine with 10 nozzles, a capping system, and additional equipment valued at P1,150,000, the NegOr DTI said in a press release.

The launching was attended by Valencia Mayor Edgar Teves Jr., municipal agriculture officer Lindon Escalante, Provincial Agriculture Office representative Roy Serion, distribution partner and ACSAT faculty member Ruel Luzana, and Chique Fabillar of Botica de San Francisco, along with BLISCOFA members. Their support underscores the community’s commitment to advancing local industries, the DTI added. ||
