It will be Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer who will make the formal announcement on who will be fielded by the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) as vice gubernatorial candidate in the May 2025 midterm polls.

This was stated by Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., UNegA secretary-general, yesterday as he confirmed that they will hold a party general assembly by next week.

Earlier this week, Abang Lingkod party-list Rep. Stephen Joseph Paduano said that Fourth District Board Member Jose Benito Alonso has already been chosen as the vice gubernatorial bet of UNegA and the running mate of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who is seeking reelection for a third and final term.

UNegA is headed by the party president, Second District Rep. Alfredo Marañon III.

Escalante acknowledged that Alonso, a former mayor of Pontevedra town, has been a frontrunner for the vice gubernatorial post after Ferrer announced that he may ran anew for congressman.

Previously, the names of Paduano, Third District Board Member Andrew Montelibano and La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor Mangilimutan were floated as possible vice gubernatorial candidates. | GB
