Explain poor water service, SP tells Baciwa-PrimeWater

The Sangguniang Panlungsod asked the Bacolod City Water District-PrimeWater Jan. 10 to explain anew the continuous problem on the lack or inadequate supply of water, and the perennial complaint about brown-colored or murky water.

This as Mayor Alfredo Benitez said Jan. 8 that he is inclined to accept a proposal from a Manila-based company “to be our second concessionaire (when it comes to) water distribution”.

“Indi man kita bungol sa ginasinggit sang aton mga pumuluyo with respect to water. I…appeal sa tanan nga mga consumers nga kung pwede makapadala sila sang ila experience regarding the water supply with the specific area, quality sang tubig, oras nga gakadulaan sila tubig so I can have a list kung ano ang reality sa aton water supply,” Benitez said in a press conference Monday.

Councilor Israel Salanga, who authored the resolution unanimously approved by the SP Jan. 10, said his office received numerous complaints of inadequate water supply and brown-colored water raised by consumers of Baciwa-PrimeWater.

The complaints were also being posted online frequently, Salanga said, adding “it is important to address immediately, promptly, and efficiently the problems raised by consumers of Baciwa-PrimeWater to achieve its goal of providing potable, reliable, and sustainable water supply to residents of Bacolod.”

He also noted that the SP already passed a resolution in August 2022 for Baciwa-PrimeWater to address complaints on poor water service, but similar problems continue until now, “to the prejudice and detriment” of Bacolod residents.

Baciwa-PrimeWater should submit an explanation letter to the SP regarding the causes of inadequate water supply and brown-colored water experienced by their consumers, and the plans and actions done to address these problems, Salanga added. | CGC
