The Bacolod Emergency Operations Center extracted 20 members of a family living in one compound in Barangay Singcang after all of them tested positive for the COVID-19 on Saturday.

All are asymptomatic and are under quarantine in one of the hotels in the city.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, EOC Deputy Director for data analysis, said one of those infected is a 53-year-old male with high viral load. The EOC is submitting his specimen for genome sequencing.

Sorongon said a pregnant woman in the family was the first to test positive for COVID-19 and the 53-year-old was her close contact. But with the high viral load of the latter, the EOC suspects that he was the original spreader of the virus.

All 20 family members were first referred to the isolation facility in Barangay Sum-ag, but since most of them are asymptomatic, they opted to stay in a hotel, where asymptomatic Covid-19 cases are staying, at their personal expense.

Meanwhile, Sorongon said the lockdown imposed on the four Delta variant cases and their close contacts were lifted today after they tested negative for the virus in their latest swab. — MML
