Eleazar orders thorough probe in death of Bacolod cop

Philippine National Police chief, P/General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, tasked the local police to investigate the killing of an operative of the Bacolod police anti-drug unit Sunday.

Eleazar said all angles should be checked to determine the real motive behind the killing of P/Staff Sergeant Joseph Nepomuceno.

In a statement, the PNP chief said he has ordered the Bacolod City Police Office and the Police Regional Office 6 to investigate the killing of Nepomuceno and ensure the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

He also expressed his deep sympathies to the bereaved family of Nepomuceno and ensured that all necessary assistance would be provided for them.

He vowed that justice would be served.

Eleazar also urged witnesses and persons who may have information to come forward and help authorities bring the perpetrators to justice.

Nepomuceno was on board his motorcycle when he was gunned down by riding-in-tandem suspects at Rosario Street, Brgy. 38, Bacolod City.

He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The police is investigating if the shooting was job-related.*
