An 82-year-old laborer living alone was found dead inside his home in Sitio Cabadiangan, Barangay Camandag, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, Sept. 20.
The victim was discovered lying on his back and already in an advanced state of decomposition near the kitchen.
La Castellana Municipal Police Station investigation showed that his sister-in-law stumbled upon the body while delivering food to him.
A neighbor said the victim was last seen alive resting on his hammock morning of Sept. 16, leading authorities to estimate that he passed away three days prior to the discovery of the body.
Investigators noted no signs of struggle or foul play at the scene, with evidence suggesting he was preparing to cook rice before collapsing.
“The family believed the deceased may have died due to illness and old age,” the police said. | TMD
