EDC extends COVID-19 assistance to Bago City

Assistance from Energy Development Corp. for the people of Bago City

The Energy Development Corp. has donated 50 sacks of rice and 50 gallons of disinfecting alcohol for the residents of Bago City.

Norreen Bautista, head of EDC’s Corporate Social Responsibility unit in Negros and in Mount Apo, said the donations were part of their commitment to continually help the LGU, where the company used to conduct exploration activities for geothermal sources.

The Bago City Sanggunian  passed a resolution thanking the EDC for its “support and selfless contribution” during  the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 1,000 food packs were also turned over recently by the EDC to the legislative staff of Negros Occidental Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer for Bago City and La Carlota residents, and to indigent families in thecities of Silay, Talisay and Victorias as well as E.B. Magalona.

The energy firm also gave 50 sacks of rice to the Diocese of Bacolod, a press release said.

Bautista said that EDC has been providing aid to its partner communities, LGUs and customers in the midst of the pandemic even if it has no operations in the area.

The EDC has a  222.5-megawatt geothermal facility in Palinpinon Negros Oriental.

“As we continue to provide uninterrupted clean, renewable, reliable power to the country, we will keep on finding ways to uplift our stakeholders in Negros Island to help them beat the health and economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 crisis”, she  said in a press release.
