The Dumaguete School Board, chaired by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, has approved funding to complete and operationalize the Calenica G. Pal Building 1, the city’s technical vocational school building in Barangay Batinguel, with classes set to start on June 16.
Among the funding support approved were the reversion of P1.28 million savings to purchase and install three-phase transformers and accessories to energize the building; P3.5 million for the equipment and learning materials, charged to the General Fund proper; and P7.5 million allocated for the first floor construction, that has been downloaded to Deped Dumaguete and for bidding once the election ban is lifted.

The city’s technical vocational school building is named Calenica G. Pal, in honor of the Pal family, who donated the one-hectare lot adjacent to the Batinguel Elementary School.
Opposite of the building is the Negros Island Regional Office of the Department of Education, now headed by Ramir Uytico, the city said.
Meanwhile, Remollo also expressed support to the proposed construction of a 15-classroom school building for Junob National High School, adding he will look for funding. ||
