Representatives from various sectors, including government officials, and Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo participated in a recent stakeholders’ meeting on the pre-feasibility study (Phase II) of the proposed Dumaguete City Coastal Road.

To be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways Region VII, the proposed project aims to decongest the existing primary roads in the city – the Dumaguete North and South roads – providing access to the seaport and the Sibulan Airport.

The proposed project is approximately eight kilometers long, and will traverse through existing roads and sections that require the opening of new roads, within 10 to 11 coastal barangays, the city said.

Among those present during the stakeholders meeting were representatives from the academe, business, barangays, and professionals.

The project proponents said that once completed, the coastal road will enhance economic development, alleviate traffic congestion, link Dumaguete’s urban areas, facilitate movement of people and commerce, and improve the road transport network. ||
