Balitaw is a song and dance verse debate between a man and a woman, usually about love, courtship, and other aspects of life, the city said Nov. 28, adding that the standard format has two performers alternately exchanging extemporaneous verses.

The mayor also expressed appreciation to all the participating schools for their sincere efforts to showcase traditional dances.

The city also recently proclaimed the new Teen and Bulilit Idols for 2024.

The Dumaguete Teen Idol is Patrick James Chua, Antonette Benapao as first runner-up, and Donabelle Maro as second runner-up.

This year’s Bulilit Idol is Yosemar Culanag Jr., Alexander Lucas – first runner-up, and Princess Amore Garcia – second runner-up.

City Tourism Office OIC Katherine Therese Aguilar and members of the Board of Judges Joshua Quiniquito, Hannah Jocyl Maningo, and Louise Christine Villanueva presented the awards to the winners. ||
