The trial run for the Vista Alegre and Cabug loops in Bacolod, using e-jeepneys, will be from May 15 to 19, and no passenger fare will be collected, the city said May 9.

The dry run schedule was finalized during the meeting of Mayor Alfredo Benitez and OIC regional director, Atty. Salvador Altura Jr., of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Western Visayas, at the Bacolod Government Center, also attended by City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea, and Engr. Joshua Gaquit – LTFRB6 transportation development officer, among others.

The Vista Alegre route will start from the relocation site in Arao, turn left to Burgos Road until Burgos-Hilado intersection, then turn left to endpoint, the city said in a press release.

Route 2, or the Barangay Cabug route, will start from the Circumferential Road going north until Bangga Cory, turn left to P. Hernaez extension, turn right (Napoleon Gonzaga Street), turn left (Lopez Jaena Street), turn right (Hernaez Street), turn left (Mabini Street) turn left (Lizares Street), turn right (Hernaez Street), turn right at Bangga Cory-Circumferential Road south, back to the starting point.

The city’s Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) Committee, chaired by Benitez, earlier approved these developmental routes to and from Vista Alegre and Cabug, with 15 units recommended for the Vista Alegre to Burgos Point to Point (P2P), five units for the Vista Alegre Barangay Hall to Libertad Loop, and seven for the Cabug (Deca Homes) to Libertad Loop.

The mayor, in a press conference last month, said about eight e-jeepneys are available for dry run for the Vista Alegre and Cabug loops. “I think this is the first in the country. We have eight e-jeeps ready to be deployed. They have obtained the certificate of compliance for registration.” | CGC
