Mayor Greg Gasataya has appointed Dr. Anna Laarni Pornan and Maricar Quiro as department heads of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and the City Agriculture Office (CAO), respectively.

The appointments transition both officials from their temporary status as officers-in-charge (OICs) to permanent positions, to ensure the continuity and full implementation of the offices’ programs.

“We pushed for their appointment because having a full-fledged head provides clear direction and implementation of programs and projects,” Gasataya said Aug. 3. “When you are an OIC, you can implement, but there is always reservation. My directive to them is to give their all and build upon their past performance to fulfill their remaining plans.”

Pornan has been in government service for 27 years. She had served as medical officer IV of Bago City in 1999, before transferring to the Bacolod City Health Office as medical officer in 2011. She was appointed Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer IV in March 2021, and later designated as DRRMO OIC.

Quiro, meanwhile, assumed as city agriculture officer after serving as the office’s OIC for three years.

She is a registered agriculturist, and worked for the provincial government before her employment with the city government in the past six years.

“We will continue all current city programs. Since I previously served as OIC, I will carry over all existing initiatives and ensure their full execution,” Quiro said. | TMD
