The Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH) in Dumaguete City was recently honored with a Plaque of Recognition for its newborn screening program by the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development, the Capitol said Nov. 28.
The DOH7 acknowledges the NOPH’s exemplary performance and unwavering dedication to enhancing the health of Filipino children through this program.
The award reflects the hospital’s commitment to meeting the rigorous standards set by the DOH for newborn health screenings.
“Such screenings are essential for the early detection of genetic and metabolic conditions in newborns, which can significantly affect their long-term health outcomes,” the Capitol said.
The focus on newborn screening exemplifies a proactive approach in addressing potential health issues before they manifest into more severe conditions.
“By implementing comprehensive screening programs, the NOPH contributes significantly to public health efforts that align with national priorities as outlined by the DOH,” the Capitol said.
This recognition is not merely a testament to NOPH’s operational excellence but also underscores Governor Chaco Sagarbarria’s service-oriented leadership, it added.
Under his governance, there has been a concerted effort to prioritize healthcare initiatives aimed at improving community health services across Negros Oriental. ||
