A total of 174 indigenous people (IP) students from the 1st District of Negros Occidental received educational assistance, all amounting to P1,174,500, from the provincial government.
The beneficiaries are elementary and high school students from San Carlos City, Don Salvador Benedicto, Toboso, and Calatrava; each received P6,750 as school allowance for nine months, the Capitol said Aug. 4.
This support was distributed through the Educational Assistance for IP’s Basic Education (EAIBE) scholarship program. The distribution was held Aug. 1 in Don Salvador Benedicto, led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, with DSB Vice Mayor Jugin Bandolon Jr., NOSP head Karen Dinsay, and Milina Jeruta of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples-Negros Occidental, along with other local officials.
This initiative aims to help IP students with their educational needs, ensuring better access to learning opportunities throughout the province. ||
