DILG names Bagani awardees in NegOcc

In celebration of the 33rd anniversary of the Local Government Code (LGC), the Department of the Interior and Local Government spearheaded the Bagani Local Governance Awards 2024, which recognized the exemplary performance and accomplishments on local governance of cities and towns in Negros Occidental.

The awarding ceremony at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City Oct. 11 was attended by DILG regional director Lailyn Ortiz, Negros Occ. director and OIC assistant RD of DILG-Negros Island Region Teodora Sumagaysay, provincial and LGU officials, and Liga ng mga Barangay provincial president, Board Member Richard Julius Sablan, among others.

The awardees are the provincial government of Negros Occidental, E.B. Magalona, Binalbagan, and Cadiz City for Subaybayani, for quality and consistency in the management of overall project implementation and monitoring of locally-funded projects, as well as exemplary practice in good local governance, particularly in the area of local infrastructure.

The local governments of Sagay (above photo) and Calatrava win P250,000 each after their barangays – Fabrica and Buenavista, respectively – were named Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards champions in the component city and 1st-3rd class municipality categories.

The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA) provincial winners in the component city category are Barangay Fabrica, Sagay City as champion; 1st-3rd class municipality category: Brgy. Buenavista, Calatrava as champion, and Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia as 1st runner-up; 4th-6th class municipality category: Brgy. Banga, Candoni, champion.

Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod, component city category: Barangay 5, San Carlos City, champion, and Brgy. Tinampa-an, Cadiz City, 1st runner-up; 1st-3rd class municipality category: Brgy. 2, Isabela, champion, Brgy. Minapasuk, Calatrava, 1st runner-up, and Brgy. Vista Alegre, Ilog, 2nd runner-up; 4th-6th class municipality category: Brgy. Caningay, Candoni, champion.

For individual category, the provincial winners are chief tanod Alex Alang of Brgy. 5, San Carlos City, champion, chief tanod Marino Batalla Jr., 1st runner-up, and chief tanod Ryan Diether Delgado, 2nd runner-up.

The 2024 Abanse barangay winners are, for component city category: Barangay 5, San Carlos City, champion, Brgy. Napoles, Bago City, 1st runner-up, and Brgy. Atipuluan, Bago City, 2nd runner-up; 1st-3rd class municipality: Barangay 2, Isabela, champion, Brgy. Vista Alegre, Ilog, 1st runner-up, and Brgy. Baga-as, Hinigaran, 2nd runner-up; 4th-6th class municipality category: Brgy. Bagong Silang, champion, Brgy. Pinowayan, 1st runner-up, and Brgy. Kumaliskis, 2nd runner-up, all of Don Salvador Benedicto, the DILG said.

The 2023 SGLG for Barangay national passers are Alianza, Atipuluan, Binubuhan, Dulao, and Lag-asan, all of Bago City; Brgy. 1 in Pontevedra, and Nataban and Rizal, both of San Carlos City.

The DILG said that potential 2024 SGLG passers include the provincial government of Negros Occidental, the cities of San Carlos, Escalante, Sagay, Cadiz, Talisay, Silay, Victorias, Bago, La Carlota, Himamaylan, and Sipalay, and the towns of Manapla, E.B. Magalona, Hinigaran, Ilog, Isabela, and La Castellana.

The Bagani Awards also acknowledged local resource institutes, civil society organizations, and national government agencies for their unwavering support, partnership, and collaboration in continuously promoting and nurturing a “Matino, Mahusay at Maaasahang Pamahalaang Lokal”, the Capitol said. | PIO photos
