Fifty-one Sangguniang Kabataan councils in 17 local government units of Negros Occidental achieved the Ideal Functionality Level as per the SK Functionality Audit (SKFA) conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government in the province.
Ten of these SKs are in Hinigaran, and nine in Murcia, the DILG, headed by provincial director Teodora Sumagaysay, said.
The other functional SKs are in EB Magalona, Bago, Cadiz, Calatrava, Silay, La Castellana, Don Salvador Benedicto, Himamaylan, Isabela, Kabankalan, La Carlota, Hinobaan, Pontevedra, San Carlos, and Victorias.
The SKFA is an innovation of the provincial DILG to assess the functionality and effectiveness and recognizes top-performing SKs in Negros Occidental.
It also highlights their initiated innovations and empowers them to thrive and excel in the indicators set by the program, the DILG said.
The SKFA may serve as a platform in improving the performance of SKs in their mandated duties and responsibilities, as provided for in Republic Act 10742, or the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015.
The DILG said the results and findings during the assessment will serve as basis in providing appropriate capacity development interventions for the SKs./CGC
