Secretary Sonny Angara of the Department of Education (DepEd) and Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez, director-general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), visited two schools in the municipality of E.B. Magalona March 18, and distributed laptops.
The visit was part of the DepEd-TESDA Joint ManCom (Management Committee) meeting March 17-18 to strengthen educational curriculum and programs, at a hotel in Bacolod City on Day 1, and a tour of select schools in Bago City, Victorias City, E.B. Magalona, Talisay City, Murcia, and Bacolod.
Angara and Benitez, accompanied by their respective top executives from the central, regional, and provincial offices, visited the Alicante Child Development Centers (CDC) 1 and 2 in Barangay Alicante, while top DepEd officials visited E.B. Magalona National High School (EBMNHS) Senior High School (SHS).

The visit to EBMNHS-SHS was for the gathering of information, feedback, challenges, good practices, issues, and concerns in the implementation of the SHS-Technical-Vocational Livelihood (TVL) track in order to strengthen the program.
The visit to two Alicante CDCs is for the upskilling of CD workers and centers. The CDCs also received two laptops each from Angara, the town said in a press release.
Welcoming the DepEd and TESDA leaders were Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, who represented Mayor Marvin Malacon; district supervisor Angeles Verdeprado, EBMNHS principal Ma. Teresa Dañas, other school heads, acting Municipal Planning and Development officer Atty. Saviya Basille Albestor, municipal budget officer Debbie Ann Monte, municipal accountant Mardy Pagunsan, municipal social welfare and development officer Emy Lyn Hibionada, former executive assistant Matthew Louis Malacon, who is also the current president of Tumandok Youth, mayor’s private secretary Joel Antonio, and former MPDO head, Engr. Erwin Poniado. ||
