Dengue cases drop by 31% in Neg. Occ.

Dengue cases in Negros Occidental have shown a steady decline in the first two months of 2024, dropping by 31 percent, compared to the cases for the same period last year.

Based on the report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), 280 dengue cases were recorded last year compared to 196 cases this year, lower by 90 cases, or a reduction of 31.46 percent.

PHO also logged zero deaths in the first two months of 2024.

Cadiz City topped the list with 22 cases; San Carlos City – 21; Silay City – 19; Victorias City – 13;   La Carlota City and Sagay City – 11 each; and Bago City and Talisay City – 10 each.

Manapla and Cauayan recorded nine cases each.

PHO records further showed that those affected by dengue are from zero to 78 years old, of which the one to 10 years old age-group is the most affected.

Meanwhile, PHO recorded 608 cases of influenza-like illness in Negros Occidental.

Isabela remains on the top of the list at 345 cases, followed by Pontevedra – 145; Don Salvador Benedicto – 62; and San Carlos City – 52. | GB
