An estimated 36,000 elementary and high school students from different schools under the Negros Occidental Division will graduate when the acadenuc school year 2020-2021 ends on July12 to 15, said Romeo Sison, Chief Education Supervisor of the Provincial Schools Division Office.

Sison said at least 26,000 Grade Six students are moving up to Grade 7 while 10,000 students are finishing their junior high school.

The Negros Occidental Schools Division covers 499 elementary schools and  103 public high schools from 13 towns and two component cities of the province.

Meanwhile, Division Office Spokesperson Ian Arnold Arnaez said commencement exercises for the graduating students will be done virtually in compliance with the guidelines from the Department of Education.

He said the DepEd guidelines do not require every public school to conduct graduation and level-up activity rites, but there are some who will opt for virtual ceremonies.

Arnaez added that graduating students are given two weeks before  graduation to submit their modules while the non-graduating students can submit their modules at least a week before the school year ends. — MML
