Davao Crocs FC wins three titles

Davao Crocs FC dominated the Brazilian Jericho Soccer Academy National Inter-Club Football Cup held at the La Provincia Open Fields in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City in Feb. 24-25.

The Davaoeños took three of the four titles at stake.

John Carmona, BJSA director and franchise holder, said the Davaoeños clinched the titles in the Under-8, U-10 and U-12 categories and placed second to Don Bosco Cebu FC in the U-13 group.

Fourteen teams from five football clubs saw action in the competition.

Carmona said all championship matches were decided via penalty shootout with the eventual titlists edging their rivals, 4-3.

The three teams of the Dolphins (Bacolod/Negros Occidental FC) placed third behind Azkals Development Academy FC of Metro Manila (U-8, U-12 and U-13).

The Metro Manilans also placed second in the U-10.

Ormoc’s REAL Amigos FC finished second in U-12 play and third in U-10 category.

The competition was sponsored by Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, Milo, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Spurway Enterprise, BongBong’s and Bantug Ranch.

Carmona said that the tournament was successful based on the feedback of participating team officials who said that they look forward to returning to Bacolod City in future tournaments.
