Traffic enforcer Jemar Valencia received P10,000 in cash prize, a sack of rice, and groceries, after he was named the champion of the 2021 MassKara dancing traffic enforcers contest of Bacolod City yesterday, Oct. 19.
Greg Leonares was second place and Araceli Abad – third. Jay Arazo, Hazel Nagar, Rechie Navarra, Garry Gonzales, Randy Ecraela, Rocky Leganda, and Joemar Langote landed in fourth to 10th places, respectively, and also received cash and sacks of rice each.
The competitors performed to the beat and rhythm of La Bamba while manning traffic at BS Aquino Drive-Lacson Streets yesterday morning.
P/Major Ruel Culanag, head of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office and organizer of the event, said the finalists were selected from 30 participants in August, then narrowed down to 16 in the semi-finals.
Each contestant was given five minutes to perform, accompanied by the original music used in the MassKara dance parade.
The finals performances were witnessed by fellow traffic enforcers, policemen, the families of contestants, pedestrians, and commuters. — MML
