Lawyer Edward Joseph Cuansing, who was confirmed as city administrator of Bacolod City by the Sangguniang Panlungsod, will be part of the local COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force and will provide administrative support to the Emergency Operations Center.
He said he will not be active in all meetings of the EOC since former administrator Em Ang is still heading the group as a volunteer, but his office will always provide support as per order of the City Mayor’s Office.
Cuansing reported to his new office Oct. 13 after he received his appointment from Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
He replaced Ang, who resigned Oct. 7 and filed her Certificate of Candidacy for councilor Oct. 8. Cuansing was confirmed by members of the SP in its session Wednesday.
He was secretary to the mayor since 2016, and is already familiar with the operations of the Administrator’s Office since he also worked closely with his predecessor.
Leonardia, meanwhile, appointed Ma. Victoria Parreño as acting secretary to the mayor, even as she heads the Bacolod Housing Authority in concurrent capacity./MML
