Bacolod Councilor Jason Villarosa is proposing to rent out the designated area for the city in the Panaad sa Negros Festival this April 17 to 23, and the fees to be collected will be used in the maintenance and beautification of the place.
In the proposed Panaad sa Negros Rentals ordinance approved on first reading by the Sangguniang Panlungsod Feb. 15, Villarosa said that in line with the initiative of Bacolod to promote the best of the highly-urbanized city, its spot at the Panaad Park in Brgy. Mansilingan “shall be opened for rent…primarily to showcase Bacolodnon products”.

Villarosa, chairperson of the SP Committee on Tourism, proposed that slots outdoors shall be charged P1,000 per day, and P500 for tenants indoors.
The number of slots will still be determined with the proposal subject to a public hearing soon. The creation of the Panaad sa Negros Rentals Council is also being proposed in the ordinance.
The council shall be led by the city mayor, with the SP Committee on Tourism head as vice chairperson. The members shall include the city tourism officer, General Services Office, City Health Office, City Treasurer’s, City Planning and Development Office, and the Public Information Office.
Villarosa said the city has the power to create own sources of revenue and levy taxes, fees, and charges under Republic Act 7160, or the Local Government Code of 1991./CGC
