Police in Negros Oriental seized more than P128.5 million worth of suspected shabu in the province since Jan. 1.

Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), told the Philippine News Agency Nov. 18 that during the period, 477 individuals were arrested in 453 anti-illegal drug operations across the province.

Also seized were about 208 grams of suspected marijuana, valued at more than P37,000.

“The suspects were arrested in regular police operations or during the conduct of Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO),” Polinar said.

Provincial police records show that 57 of the suspects were considered high-value individuals, 402 were street-level individuals, and 18 were not listed in the roster of drug personalities.

The latest to fall were two suspects who were arrested during buy-bust operations in Guihulngan City and Bayawan City early yesterday morning, who yielded about P15,000 worth of suspected shabu.

Another suspect was arrested over the weekend, yielding more than P2 million worth of the illegal substance.

With Christmas fast approaching, Polinar said the NOrPPO is relentlessly conducting intelligence activities, and has enhanced police operations to track down the source of illegal drugs. ||
