A man allegedly involved in selling unlicensed firearms was arrested in Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Nov. 19.
The apprehension of alias “Errol”, 31, for illegal possession of firearms by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Bacolod City Field Unit is in line with the Oplan Paglalansag Omega.
The suspect, who yielded three .38 caliber revolvers and a homemade shotgun, was allegedly involved in gunrunning operations in Negros Occidental.
In a statement, PMaj. Gen. Robert Marico II, acting CIDG chief, commended the CIDG Regional Field Unit-Negros Island Region and CIDG Bacolod City Field Unit led by PMaj. Edgar Tonico Jr. for the arrest of the suspected gunrunner and recovery of four loose firearms.
“With this, we get rid of four instruments of killing and violence, thereby we prevented crimes,” Morico said in a statement.
Meanwhile, a truck driver was arrested by the police in Barangay RSB, La Carlota City for illegal possession of firearms on Sunday (Nov. 23).
Alias “Benjo”, 47, of Barangay Crossing Magallon, Moises Padilla, was found possessing a homemade 12-gauge shotgun with four ammunition.
He drove a truck while under the influence of liquor, hitting a passenger tricycle, and then parked the truck in the middle of the road. | GB
