The owner of the white Mitsubishi Montero used as a getaway vehicle by five suspects in the recent robbery of Gaisano Capital in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental have already been identified, in coordination with the Land Transportation Office, the police said.
In a statement, PLt. Col. Nazer Canja, San Carlos City police chief, said that the development could provide an aid to their investigation.
The group of suspects rented a cottage at the Pondside Cottage Inn in Barangay Macapso, Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental before the heist.
Canja said that a staff of the inn was able to take a picture of the vehicle and recognize the suspects, who were overheard to have been speaking Cebuano or Hiligaynon.
The bonnet-wearing suspects took about P1.4 million in cash, jewelry and tools from Negros Grace Pharmacy, Galleon Enterprises, Yung Luck Star Jewelry and Handyman on Aug. 19.
The thieves tunneled their way inside the Gaisano Capital, from a drainage system of the mall, police investigation showed.
Canja said that the two burglars were assisted by three other suspects, who were staying in the getaway vehicle. | GB
