Cop injured, 2 drug suspects nabbed in buy-bust operation

A policeman was shot while two drug suspects were arrested during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Magkinigkig, Barangay Tan-awan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday (July 2).

PStaff Sgt. Iric Montoyo, who suffered an injury in his right arm, is being treated at a medical facility.

The suspects were identified as  Alvie Taco, an alleged member of  local drug group “Criminal Gang”, and Joseph Sapu-an, both residents of the same village.

Their arrest yielded about 20 grams of suspected shabu valued at P136,000, a  caliber .45 Glock pistol with magazine containing ammunition, a fired cartridge of caliber .45 pistol, and a caliber .22 revolver with ammunition.

Operatives also recovered from the suspects were drug paraphernalia, P500 in marked money and a Honda TMX motorcycle.

Taco is classified as a high-value individual, who ranks sixth in the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office priority target list, and number one in the drug watch list of the Kabankalan City Police Station. | GB
