A policeman on board a motorcycle died in an accident along the national highway of Purok Ipil-Ipil in Barangay San Juan, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Monday (Oct. 23).
Patrolman Reden Agus, a personnel of the Iloilo City Police Office, was declared dead on arrival at the Valladolid District Hospital, based on the report of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
Agus, 31, a resident of Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, was among the policemen dispatched by the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas to secure the MassKara Festival in Bacolod City, which ended on Sunday.
Initial police investigation showed that the Yamaha Sniper motorcycle driven by Agus, who was on his way to Kabankalan City, hit the Mitsubishi Canter truck manned by Sonny Elet, a resident of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
He was immediately brought by members of the Pontevedra rescue unit to the Valladolid District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician, Dr. Linade Cequiña, police report showed. | GB
