Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia will lead the Voters Education and Registration Fair at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City on Saturday (Sept. 14).

Comelec Negros Island Regional Director Lionel Marco Castillano said that there will also be a demonstration of the new automated vote counting machine that will be used during the May 2025 midterm elections.

Garcia will also hold a press conference at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City at 10:30 a.m.

Castillano said that the filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC) for the May 2025 midterm elections will push through on Oct. 1 to 8.

He clarified that it was the filing of COC for representatives of parliamentary districts of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) that was moved to Nov. 4 to 9.

This was after the Supreme Court ruled that Sulu province is not part of BARMM. | GB
