Operatives of the Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region apprehended an unauthorized passenger van carrying 10 fare-paying commuters during a targeted operation in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, Sept. 15.
The agency’s Regional Law Enforcement Service intercepted the vehicle following reports of illegal public transport operations along the southern Negros route.
Investigation revealed that the van was ferrying passengers from Kabankalan City to Bacolod City, with each commuter charged P230 in fare, without any franchise or authorization.
“We will continue to go after colorum operators. Our priority is the safety of every riding public,” LTO-NIR director Jeck Conlu said in a statement.
The apprehension underscored LTO-NIR’s intensified campaign against colorum vehicles and illegal public transport operations, prioritizing commuter safety and strict compliance with transportation laws. | TMD
