Coast Guard personnel secure Buglasan dragon boat exhibition

The Coast Guard Station (CGS) Negros Oriental said its personnel and substations, as well as partner-agencies, provided security assistance and baywatch patrol during the Buglasan Dragon Boat exhibition match at Rizal Boulevard in Dumaguete City Oct. 25.

The deployment of the Special Operations Unit–Negros Oriental, and Coast Guard K9-Negros Oriental, among other law enforcement agencies and rescue groups, aimed to ensure the safety and security of participants and spectators throughout the event.

Coordinated land and sea patrols were conducted along the coastline and nearby waters to maintain public safety and prevent untoward incidents, the CGS said.

“The deployment of PCG personnel and assets, including HSRB-036 and specialized units, underscores the dedication of the Philippine Coast Guard to its core functions of safeguarding lives, ensuring maritime security, and promoting safe and environmentally responsible maritime activities,” it added.

The PCG remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold maritime safety, security, and environmental protection through continued inter-agency coordination and collaboration with local government units and stakeholders in Negros Oriental.

The Negros Oriental Provincial Tourism Board said the thrilling dragon boat exhibition match showcased the power, teamwork, and determination of all the participants.

Teams paddled with unmatched energy and coordination, making for an exciting and inspiring event that truly celebrated the spirit of Buglasan Festival 2025, it added. ||
