The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) is set to celebrate its third year as a university by highlighting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during its University Foundation Week, from May 13 to 17.
The celebration, on the theme “CHMSU@3: Celebrating Sustainable Gains and Forging Pathways to Sustainability”, promises a week of fun and meaningful activities across all four campuses – Alijis and Fortune Towne in Bacolod City, in Binalbagan, and the main Talisay campus.
The celebration will kick off in the morning of May 13 with the simultaneous “All Roads Lead to CHMSU Fun Run” in Bacolod, Talisay, and Binalbagan, organized by the Sports Affairs Office.
Thanksgiving masses will also be held on each campus to mark the start of the festivities, the CHMSU said in a press release May 6.
The week-long SDG Expo Village will begin on Day 1, showcasing various programs, initiatives, and projects led by students, faculty, and units. The exhibit will highlight CHMSU’s collective effort in contributing to the achievement of the 17 SDGs.
The Library and Information Services, in partnership with the Center for Internationalization and External Relations (CIER), will also launch “CHMSU Through the Years: Many Roots, One Vision”—a university history exhibit to be displayed on all campus libraries.
Pocket events, invitational games, and open-mic performances will keep the U-Week calendar vibrant with opportunities for entertainment and engagement.
May 16 will be a highlight of the week, featuring a range of events organized by different offices and student organizations.
The Human Resource Development Office, in partnership with the Faculty Association and the Talisay-Alijis-Bacolod-Binalbagan Employees Association (TABBEA), will host Employees’ Day across all campuses.
Simultaneously, the Alumni Relations Office and various campus alumni associations will present “Alumni in Service: Giving Back Together”, while the National Service Training Program Office will lead the NSTP Day activities.
CHMSUans will gather for a community lunch, dubbed “Punsyon sa CHMSU”, before concluding the day with the highly-anticipated ExCELSIOR Night.
The celebration will culminate on May 17 with a native tree-planting activity at the Bacolod Eco-Park.
This initiative, led by the Faculty Association, TABBEA, and Greening CHMSU Task Force volunteers, is in partnership with the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office. ||
