The Central Negros Electric Cooperative said Sept. 20 that its average residential rate for this month increased to P11.6884 per kilowatt-hour from P10.8380/kWh in August.
Atty. Arnel Lapore, acting general manager of Ceneco, said the upward adjustment was due to a 3.34 percent hike in the total generation charge, largely because of the increase in the price of electricity purchased from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
Lapore said there was a P0.4487/kWh hike in the WSEM pricing, or from P6.6063/kWh to P7.0550/kWh for this billing month.
The average transmission rate also increased by 67.80 percent, due to higher Ancillary Services (AS) rates stemming from the resumption of the AS Reserve Market (AS-RM), the Ceneco management said.
It added that pass-through charges, equivalent to P9.6514/kWh of the total electricity rate, include the generation and transmission charges, ERC-approved adjustments, and government subsidies and taxes.
Consumers are reminded to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills, Lapore stressed. ||
