Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday reiterated his call for Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) consumer-members to go out and vote for the Joint Venture Agreement between the electric coop and Primelectric Holdings Inc.

“If you’re eligible to vote, I strongly recommend that you go out and vote,” Lacson said.

A total of 27,741 of Ceneco member-consumers voted during the first two days of the JVA plebiscite June 24 and 25, of which 21,674 voted Yes, as per results released by the Overall Plebiscite Committee.

“It is not enough to say yes without voting,” Lacson said, stressing that the remaining dates of the plebiscite on the JVA are “crucial”.

There are four more plebiscite voting dates scheduled on July 1 and 2, as well as on July 8 and 9.

“My understanding is the target is 50 percent plus one,” Lacson said, adding that “it’s really up to the member-consumers if they want to support the JVA or not.”

A total of 192,188 Ceneco member-consumers are eligible to vote in the plebiscite.

Lacson, Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, Abang Lingkod Rep. Stephen Joseph Paduano, and Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez have expressed their support for the JVA./GB
