The Central Negros Electric Cooperative has set up standby emergency response teams in all its service areas to ensure stable power supply during Christmas and New Year’s weekends.
CENECO acting general manager Atty. Dan Pondevilla said the emergency response unit of the Engineering Division is in place and there is no scheduled maintenance service during the remaining days of the year.
He stressed that an emergency team is “on-call” in case of emergencies and unexpected incidents.
Pondevilla added that due to the high demand of power from residential consumers during the holidays, routine maintenance was done in October and November.
He noted that there is an estimated 10 to 15 percent increase in household power consumption this December.
The CENECO officials attributed this not only for the Christmas lights and other decorations but also to the high demand for cooking during the holidays.
Meanwhile, CENECO offices will remain open on December 28 and 29 for any transaction, Pondevilla said.
The electric cooperative serves the cities of Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, and Bago and the towns of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto with more than 264,300 households.—MML
