Bounty awaits informants who may provide information leading to the solution of unsolved killings in Bacolod City.

A spate of killings happened shortly before PCol. Noel Aliño vacated his post as director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), and he was succeeded by PCol. Joeresty Coronica last week.

In a statement over the weekend, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, through his spokesperson, Singcang-Airport village chief Caesar Distrito, announced that he will provide cash reward to any credible informant as proposed by Coronica.

Distrito said that the amount will be announced after the mayor will confer with the BCPO chief.

In a press briefing on July 26, Coronica said that the giving of cash rewards, which he suggested to   Benitez, is expected to hasten the solution of crimes by encouraging the cooperation of witnesses.

Coronica asked Bacolodnons to give him time to study the crimes that have recently taken place in the city.

The former BCPO Station 1 commander and Silay City police chief also said that he will further strengthen the campaign against illegal drugs as well as robbery and theft incidents. | GB
