Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has increased the monthly cash incentive for barangay tanods in the 30 component barangays of Dumaguete City, from P800 to P1,000 per month starting January 2025.
The office of Remollo also included P4.8 million in the proposed annual executive budget for 2025 for about 400 tanods, which is awaiting approval by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Since 2020, Remollo implemented the project of granting monthly cash incentive to all qualified tanods, as verified by the Department of Interior and Local Government, in appreciation of their significant contribution to keeping their communities safe and peaceful, the city said Feb. 5.
The cash incentive from the city government is in addition to the honoraria that the tanods get from their respective barangays.
To qualify for the incentive, the City DILG required each tanod to complete mandatory training, basically for knife and arnis techniques, including attending fire drills and lectures. ||
