A month-long carnival operation will be put up at the Bacolod Government Center football field area, starting on Dec. 1, in line with the Christmas season celebration.

The Liga ng mga Barangay Bacolod City Chapter, which organizes this fund-raising event, will enter into a memorandum of agreement with a carnival operator, after the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod approved its request, subject to coordination with the City Mayor’s Office that is also planning to put up a Christmas Village in the area.

Liga president Lady Gles Pallen said they will include in the MOA provisions for cleanliness, and the safety and security of carnival goers.

Councilor Em Ang said that during the MassKara Festival celebration last month, a carnival was also operated in the area, and the operator and organizer failed to maintain cleanliness.

Councilor Israel Salanga said he hopes the carnival rates would be affordable, in consideration of the Christmas season.

The SP, in its session Nov. 22, also approved the requests of barangays 19, 2, 20, and 7, for the conduct of cockfights, on Dec. 2 to 4, Dec. 9 to 11, Dec. 16 to 18 and on Dec. 23 to 25, respectively, in line with their Charter Day and fiesta celebrations./CGC
