The Negros Occidental provincial government is entertaining the possibility of continuing the proposed bulk water supply project by tapping the water surface of Malogo River in E.B. Magalona town.

If they will pursue it, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said it will be in a smaller scale, where it may only benefit a few local government units, including E.B. Magalona, Manapla, and Victorias City.

“There is no decision for it, as of this time,” he said.

The Silay City Council had earlier disapproved the right of no objection being requested by the provincial government to pursue the P1.1-billion bulk water supply project using the surface water of Imbang River/Hinalinan River.

Lacson said he respects the decision of the Silay City government, adding that they will no longer seek a motion for reconsideration.

“In short, we will no longer tap the water source in Silay,” he added. | GB
