The health officer of Cadiz City clarified that the northern Negros LGU only has 99 active COVID-19 cases and not 150 as reported by the Provincial Health Office.
In a letter to Provincial Health Officer Ernell Tumimbang, Cadiz City Health Officer Dr. Maria Victoria Ibanez said that as of Nov. 5, Cadiz has recorded a total of 347 COVID-19 cases, 234 of whom have already recovered.
The city has 11 deaths due to the virus, she added.
One case was endorsed to another local government unit, while another person, who turned out positive, was a transient.
Earlier, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. denied reports released by the PHO that the north Negros city has the highest number of active coronavirus cases in Negros Occidental.
“It is not correct. All results of the Nov. 3 swabbing are all in. As per information from the city IATF, our LGU only has 99 active cases,” Escalante said.
As of the Nov. 3 record of the LGU’s IATF, there are only 498 PUMs, who are being monitored, and 78 of them are currently at the St. Andrew’s Park Place, the city’s isolation facility.
About 420 others are strictly under home quarantine, Escalante said.
Cadiz City posted 15 new cases, while 18 have fully recovered.
Again, we only have 99 active cases and not 150 as earlier claimed by the PHO in its report. I hope this sets the record straight, Escalante said.
