La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio attended the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Tuesday as an ex-officio member, two weeks after he was elected president of the Philippine Councilors’ League-Negros Occidental chapter.

Asistio said he would like to help in the sports development of the province. “I love sports. I would like to help in the sports program of the province, even in my personal capacity, basi may insight man ko, kay palangga ko gid ang sports.”

He said he will check the programs and projects of his predecessor, Silay Councilor Ryan Gamboa, and will continue those that would benefit their colleagues. “Kung ano ang maayo e continue ta gid na para makabulig sa aton mga councilor.”

He said he will make sure that each councilor, regardless from small or big town or city, will be given a voice or representation in the Provincial Board.

Asistio said he is very comfortable in the Board, despite feeling a bit shy at first since his father, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer is the presiding officer, but he stressed that everyone knows that what they’re doing is for the good of the province.

He thanked officials from the Love Negros and the United Negros Alliance, particularly Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Abang Lingkod Partylist Rep. Stephen Paduano, Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Benitez, and Ferrer, as well as the councilors for choosing him as PCL president./CGC
