The Regional Inter Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has approved the requests of Cadiz City, Manapla and Binalbagan to temporarily ban the return of locally-stranded individuals.

In a resolution dated Oct. 31,  signed by RIATF COVID-19 chairperson Juan Jovian Ingeniero, the moratorium on the return of LSIs bound for Binalbagan takes effect today,  Nov. 2 until Nov. 16 this year.

The suspension of entry of  LSIs to Manapla, on the other hand, will start Nov. 5 until Nov. 18,  the RIATF resolution said.

LSIs going to Cadiz City will not be allowed to return to their respective homes from Nov. 2 until Nov. 6, Ingeniero added.

Manapla, he said,  asked  for a 14-day moratorium to allow the local government to  sustain its efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

As of Nov. 1, Manapla recorded 83 COVID-19 positive with 23 active cases, 53 recoveries and two deaths.

Cadiz City cited the  congestion and non-availability of  space at its quarantine facility, prompting the LGU to request for a five-day moratorium on LSIs’ return, and to allow them to also disinfect the facility.

Of the 322 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Cadiz City, 130 are active and 180 had recovered.

The LGU recorded nine deaths as of Nov. 1, a report of the Bilis Cadiz Ugyon Cadiznon said.

Binalbagan posted 116 confirmed cases with 85 recoveries and 28 remain active cases.

Three died from coronavirus in Binalbagan as of Oct. 30, a belated report from the Provincial Health Office showed. – GPB
