“Winning the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) this year is Cadiz City’s higher high,” declared by Mayor Salvador Esclante Jr.
“It’s also an attestation that we, in Cadiz, are really doing our best in serving our constituents within the parlance of public service,” he added.
Cadiz City was among the 11 local government units in the province, including the provincial government of Negros Occidental and its capital, Bacolod City, hailed as this year’s SGLG awardees by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
“We’ve been through a lot of tedious challenges but it’s worth it,” Escalante said.
He reported that the sustainable “Serbisyo Caravan” – Cadiz City’s own brand of public service – which penetrates all villages proved to be an effective public service in bringing government closer to people, especially to the poorest of the poor.”
“It’s a complete package – from birth registration to feeding program to medical consultation to farm aid demonstration to social welfare assistance to animal check-up, among others.”
Escalante said that Cadiz is also “hyping its economic, tourism and investment promotion aimed at enticing more investors and tourists to come to our city.”
With the new slogan, “Cadiz City: Land of Splendid Opportunities,” Escalante said he is optimistic for a more enhanced economic growth in the city.
Aside from the existing 132-megawatt (MW) solar farm in Barangay Tinampaan, Cadiz is set to host the very first floating solar farm in the Visayas.
The 100-MW solar farm to be situated also in Tinampaan will be developed by the joint venture of Zonal Renewables Corp. and the Montelibano-led A.M. Hijos Inc.
Escalante also said they are now constructing a modern Cadiz City Sports Complex and will soon break ground for a 50-bed, P250-M city hospital, also in Barangay Tinampaan.
The 12-hectare Villa Tiglawigan, a housing project in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa mga Pilipino Program is also rising in Barangay Tiglawigan.
It will host houses for government workers and provides free lots for Cadiz’s informal settlers.
Also, the Cadiz City Children Park is undergoing a facelift while a modern an interactive Cadiz City Library is opening its doors to the public in the coming months.
Cadiz will also open its newest market very soon.
“Beyond the SGLG feat, we’re committed to doing our best for our beloved Cadiznons,” Escalante vowed. ||
