Abang Lingkod party-list Rep. Stephen Joseph Paduano said on Wednesday, May 1, that political leaders in Negros Occidental have already agreed to endorse Fourth District Board Member Jose Benito Alonso as the common vice gubernatorial candidate in the May 2025 midterm elections.
The development came as Paduano also expressed his full support to the planned reelection bid of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson for a third and final term.
Paduano said that he was given the privilege to endorse Alonso, a member of United Negros Alliance (UnegA), as the runningmate of Lacson, the leader of Love Negros, during the last Christmas party of the Philippine Councilor’s League- Negros Occidental, which was also attended by some mayors and Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez.
As agreed by the coalition of the UNegA and Love Negros, the vice gubernatorial post is reserved for the candidate from UNegA.
Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer earlier announced his intention to run anew for congressman in the Fourth District to succeed his wife, Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer, who is now on her third and final term. | GB
