Binalbagan’s Karatong wins Panaad folk dance contest

The municipality of Binalbagan is this year’s Panaad sa Negros Festival Folk Dance competition champion, with performers of Karatong winning P50,000 in cash prize, April 19 at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.

Escalante City won P40,000 after its Ti-Silaw dancers placed second while Cadiz City’s Tubong Kalatong performers bagged P30,000 in third place.

Kabankalan City was fourth placer, P25,000; and Murcia, fifth, P20,000, a Capitol press release said.

Consolation prizes of P5,000 each were given to contingents from Himamaylan City, Bacolod City, and Silay City.

Other winning dances performed during the competition were Pasikat sa Baso, Pagdulang, Mamumugon sa Kampo, Sala Ti Mais, and Panangasin. ||
